Been a couple weeks since I have posted anything on the blog, sorry; between boat shows, the holidays and trying to squeeze in a little fishing there just hasn't been time. Anway, the fish on Table Rock have finally moved out deep, there are still shallow fish to be caught but numbers of fish are now coming 40 - 60 feet deep around balls of shad, for some reason a 4" smoke grub is out performing every other bait right now. Don't forget to vote for your favorites in the Tourneys, our annual awards, voting will continue until early March so make sure you support your favorites and have your friends vote as well.
The Mitchell Report......
So over the past couple of weeks Kory has been making his case for a conspiracy or at least a cover up in the Byron Velvick's win in the BASS Elite Wild Card. If you look at the numbers, he's got a point. Byron has some of the worst statistics in the history of BASS, and he's still on tour. He has one of the lowest per tournament money averages in the modern era, seriously at this rate he looses almost $4,000 per event on entry fees alone. Granted sponsors pay his way and nobody makes there living on tournament winnings but sooner or later somethings got to give. I have a hard time agreeing there was a conspiracy to make sure Byron was back on the Elite Tour, but in a sport desperate for a poster boy....... kind of makes ya think...... EP
Just a quick note to let everyone know that the Anglers Helping Anglers benefit tournament for Matthew Shearer has been rescheduled to January 27, 2008. The weather forcasters can't seem to make up their minds on how much snow we are going to get but the lows for Sunday the 16th are forcast to be in the low teens, so....... better safe than sorry. On another note, the water temperature on Table Rock has dropped into the high 40's and the bait (and fish) are starting to group up in the guts of the creeks. Right now the best bite is still on the bank with a wiggle wart from 4' - 8' deep. Key on windy pea gravel points to be successful. See ya on the water - EP
